Major Telegram Hack-and-Leak shakes Moldova Government

Moldova’s Justice Ministry confirmed that the private Telegram correspondence of at least two prominent Moldovan political figures has been leaked and published on Moldova Leaks, a newly-registered website threatening to release more data on government officials and politicians.

According to Risky Business News, it is not yet clear who is behind the operation but the leaks particularly seem targeted at undermining anti-corruption officials, also suggesting that other Moldovan officials have won rigged elections or have been installed improperly in their positions.

The leaked Telegram messages caused a major political scandal in the Country, causing Moldova’s president, prime minister, and members of the senior ruling party to gather for an urgent weekend meeting after weeks of anti-government protests.
